I met Mark at Muskingum College, New Concord, Ohio and we were married on August 7th following our graduation in 1971, where I earned a degree in Elementary Education and Sociology. Before we started dating, we had both enlisted in the United States Marine Corps officers’ program during our junior year and were commissioned as second lieutenants at our graduation in 1971. After being separated for the better part of our first 18 months of marriage, we were finally stationed together at Camp Lejuene, NC where we got saved in a little Assembly of God church in October of 1973. Our first daughter Amy was born in December of that year and following our discharge in 1974 we moved to Houston, Pennsylvania where our second daughter, Jennifer was born in April 1976.
Mark was ordained with the Assemblies of God in 1983 and we were on pastoral staff of a large church in South Bend, Indiana for six years before the Lord called us to the mission field in 1985. Our first assignment was to work with the local churches in the Central Province as area missionaries and teach at East Africa School of Theology (EAST) in Nairobi, Kenya. Within our first year on the field, I was asked to teach the diploma level course on Marriage and ever since that time, this subject has been my passion. Over the years I developed a BA level course and a resource manual, God’s Blueprint for Marriage, which is a compilation of over 170 readings by over 60 authors, as well as some of my own personal writings. I have personally taught this course in Bible schools in Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Africa and the materials have also been used in Bible schools in Malawi.
We moved to Cape Town, South Africa in 2006 where Mark was asked to be the principal of Cape Theological Seminary, which is now called Global School of Theology-Western Cape (GST-WC). Our present ministry focuses on building relationships with the local pastors and churches in the Western Cape by providing Bible teachings and seminars on the subjects of Marriage, Communication, Parenting, Singles, End Times, Leadership Development, as well as teaching series on different books of the Bible (i.e. Book of Acts and Revelation, etc.). We are also involved in a radio ministry through a weekly program called “Let the Bible Speak” which reaches out to listeners in Cape Town and the surrounding areas.
I also enjoy speaking at women’s conferences, as well as minister in singing and love preaching on the subject of The Second Coming and End Times. Mark and I also do pre-marital counseling and mentoring/coaching.
